When asked about himself, John usually comments

“I’m just a fella who paints pictures.”

Over the years I have had the pleasure of exhibiting John’s work in numerous galleries

under my patronage across the North of England. I have watched as his work developed from the detailed figurative style so recognisable in his still life and landscape paintings to his now, equally detailed and profoundly observed, abstract work.

Throughout this evolution of style and form one feature has remained at the heart of all his work: a sensitive and skilful appreciation of composition, expressed through an unsurpassed skill in drawing.
