Four novellas set at crucial periods in C20th German history

1936: WOMEN AT WAR

Against a backdrop of a Europe seemingly headed towards war, the daughters of

the Mitford and Midgley families indulge in enmities and manoeuvres of their

own, encountering HG Wells; von Ribbentrop; Goebbels; Hitler; Mosely and

Wallis Simpson on the way.

1946: STAR-CROSSED

Newly promoted by the US Army, Captain Sam Jacobs is already finding the

governance of the Germans in peacetime as challenging as ever was waging

war against them, yet, everything becomes even more complicated with the

appearance of the Baroness.

1961: LYING SKIES

Following the betrayals of George Blake, rookie MI6 officer, Ray Kinnell, is hastily

posted to Berlin to create a new network of agents but, before long, a great wall

is built that changes the game considerably. The first lesson along his learning-

curve is that, in the game of espionage, friends and enemies can be found in

surprising places.

1989+: CHILDREN OF THE WALL

The Kugler family’s escape attempt from East to West Berlin is only partially

successful, leaving father and son in the West; mother and daughter in the East.

Each facing difficulties, it is only after the fall of the Wall, that they can attempt

to re-unite the family.
