In the Vosges Mountains in the dying days of the Second World War, ten-year-old Xavier Le Rolland and his parents are thrust into the middle of a struggle between German and Allied Forces.

The war comes crashing into the Rollands' lives when they find themselves secretly sheltering a wounded British soldier and his comrade, while simultaneously being forced to host two German officers.
