The mine was criss-crossed with tunnels and Ned was dizzy with trying to remember how many turns he’d taken. At last, Cop slowed down. Ahead of them in the gloom Ned could see another wooden door.
Ned is only eleven when he starts work in the ironstone mine. The work is hard and dangerous, and like all miners, he knows that a rockfall could spell disaster for them all…
