Nesta has been suspended for setting her school alight. Is she innocent? Will she go back to school? Will her mum and dad get together again? Will she have to go into care or worse? What is worse than being taken away from her dad? Will they find someone much more wonderful?
What about the children in the book she is given to read, particularly the two boys with a pet owl and monkey?
The two stories set a century apart take place in the same village near a city.
Did the two boys set their school alight? Will they find the families they were stolen from when they were babies? Who is the strange constable, and what about the fierce circus beast? Will the Reverend Lamb be found, and will these children come to know someone much more wonderful?
