The Light in tthe Stone

Paul tells his story of leaving a cruise ship at a small town somewhere in Scandinavia and going to work on a fruit farm, picking apples. There, he meets a Finnish girl, Kaarina, and they have a love affair, which is suddenly broken.

Paul is wealthy. Money gives him the power to do much as he wishes. His main interests lie in poetry and in what he terms ‘the light in the stone’ – light from the past that just possibly could be revealed again.

He goes away to try and forget Kaarina, but that is impossible.

He has told her she will always find him at his ‘special place’ on the high downland of southern England, which they once visited together.

Will Kaarina come there again, or will her light have gone from Paul forever?
