This book is the story of a young, courageous woman, who left London, England after a whirlwind romance and marriage to an English surgeon whose parents lived in what was then Southern Rhodesia. In 1932 at the tender age of twenty-three, she set sail with her husband to go to Central Africa to meet his parents. Little did she realise she would live the rest of her long life there. Twenty years later she entered politics and was elected the only woman to the Southern Rhodesian Parliament. She stood for the Parliament of the Federation of Central Africa and was successful becoming the first, only and last woman to sit in that Parliament. Brave, outspoken and determined she continued to promote the rights of black Africans and a move to majority rules as well as championing women's rights. Despite her busy political life, she was a wonderful wife, mother and superb grandmother.
