Billy is Not a Labrador

Who is Billy and if he’s not a Labrador, what is he?
Billy is a small, black dog. His story in this book begins when, as a big puppy listed as a Labrador cross, he arrived in the UK from Romania.
I adopted him soon after this, knowing nothing about his earlier life; meeting what I thought was a stray. Despite the challenges he had faced, his self-respect and courage shone out of his scruffy, hungry little body from our first meeting.
As he grew, he created chaos everywhere we went. His behaviour was never really Labrador-like which made training a puzzle.
Eventually a birthday gift of a canine DNA test showed that he is not a Labrador but (mostly) Jagdhund, plus ten other breeds. A puzzle indeed.
Does it matter that he’s not a Labrador? No, not at all. He is just Billy. The chaos, the learning and the laughter described in these stories will show you what that really means.
