Phonics Resources: For Older Learners
This Resource Book provides photo-copiable phonic worksheets suitable for older learners.
There is an abundance of phonics resources for young children but often the content and tone of the text is unsuitable for older learners. This book provides more suitable resources for teachers of older children, adults and ESOL learners, which will enable them to use phonics to improve the reading and spelling of their learners.
The phonic progression of the worksheets is that presented in the Sounds~Write programme, but they can be used by any teacher who wants to introduce phonics to their learners in a structured sequence.
Frances Woodward is the founder of ‘Forward with Phonics’.
She has specialised in the teaching of reading, using synthetic phonics, for the past thirteen years and has achieved successful outcomes with learners of all ages, from five to seventy-five!
Frances has over twenty years’ experience teaching in primary schools and twelve years working in the Further Education sector. She has worked in Adult Community Learning, providing literacy classes for Entry Level and ESOL learners and was an Associated Lecturer in the Additional Support Department
at Bedford College. She is a trainer for the Sounds-Write programme, providing courses in schools and colleges.
